The Tree Kangaroo (Dendrolagus ursinus) is a critically endangered species of marsupials. These mammals are much smaller than the kangaroos of Australia and live most of their life in trees.

Tree kangaroos can jump 18 meters from trees to the ground without getting hurt

Tree kangaroo joeys stay in their mother's pouch for approximately 450 days

The joey is only one inch long when born

Unlike normal kangaroos, tree kangaroos can walk backwards

The genus of the tree kangaroo means "tree hare"

Tree kangaroos can also leap up to 30 meters

75% are road killed and 10% are killed by dogs

Live for around 20 years

Travels tail first down trees

 

There are only 2 species of tree kangaroos in Australia
