How Can We Help
The easiest way for us to help save tree kangaroos is to donate to larger organisations like WWF. However, a suggested method of support for the tree kangaroo is to only buy wood or wood products from sustainable forests that have been certified by the Forest Stewardship Council.
Finally, you should spread the word. Tell others about the dire situation of the tree kangaroo and ask them to help.
What Organisations Doing and Initiatives that are Underway
WWF and TKCP (NGO) are organisations that are striving to help the tree kangaroo.
WWF- is reducing illegal logging and deforestation, raising awareness of hunting and habitat loss, managing protected areas and reducing illegal hunting through the TRAFFIC program.
TKCP- stands for "Tree Kangaroo Conservation Program". TKCP is trying to create a conservation area in PNG for tree kangaroos and is monitoring the situation.
What the Government Can Do
With the governments help, we will be a step closer to preserving the species. The government could put some money into the situation, stop deforestation in the tree kangaroos habitat and create conservation areas where hunting is banned. If the government does this, tree kangaroos will already be a lot safer than they are right now.
